This may be a dumb question from me, but not having a manual, can you tell me where the signal relay is and what it looks like. Since front and rear suddenly quit awile back, and flasher is good(checked it, plus plugged in a new thermal flasher), checked solder connections on switch(previously had a factory soldered wire on switch break loose) thinking it's a relay if there is one. Help would be appreciated as I feel naked out there in traffic without there use, and am still riding here in western Colo. even though it was bout 15 degrees the other morning........brrrrrr. Just love sporting around on the H Venturer when not another bike is seen out.

    Re: turn signals

    Go here:

    http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/parts/home.aspx

and select year, model, electrical2, and look at signal canceller unit.

When mine went out, it would blink if I held the signal button...for a while, then it quit working altogether. Check you fuse also.

Thanks Skids for that tibit of info!...........fuses are all good. wouldn't work holding it on either.........guess that can happen, work fine.....then it quits for no reason. Definitely had me baffled as to where else to check for malfuntion, since none of sig. elements had power to them. So canceling unit would be under suspicion before relay would? Four-ways didn't work proir signal quiting, and of course they still don't. Saw some assorted electrical for an earlier model on ebay, thinkin they would be the same circuits, may give in to the ebay gods...........again! dang, hate when that happens!

        Hey Motoman,

The 4way emergency flashers use a separate flasher unit, it's on the frame left side above the battery, IIRC. If they quit working first, and then the turn signals, and both are controlled by the handlebar switches....I would revisit the controls, perhaps another factory solder came loose? Also, remember, fuses can look good but be bad, have you pulled the fuses out and verified their continuity, and checked the fuse terminals for power on the blades? Also, may need to check and clean the connector plugs under the tank or inside the headlight for corrosion!? Good luck, hope this helps!?

Thanks TopCat! Your a mindreader, as I checked fuse holders, and all have power on both sides of tangs, which sent me back to switch control. Found another solder joint had turned loose and re-soldered. Thought that solved it........murphy said "not". Bout a month ago, had fairing off cause headlite was dimmer at idle. Cleaned all plug-ins and added a little dialectric to all plug-ins as I had tank and seat off also. Now headlamp stays bright whether at idle or 5,000rpm, and all lites including sigs. were fine, even canceling after turning! Suddenly, a following day after a poker run(sigs.working fine) they were no longer working. I just wanted to not "chase my tail" if someone had had the same problem. I'll make sure I have power to switch assembly first then follow Skids suggestion and check sig. canceling unit. Just seems curious working, parked it, at start-up next day, quit working. Also, headlamp halogen is new and all connections still look like new, but added a little dialectic anyways when I was in the dialectic mode.

Did you check the hazard switch? If I remember correctly the turn switch is connect through the hazard switch, and on mine the contacts were all corroded and there was a bad solder joint. Worth a look if you haven't done so already.
