Spares in Australia?

Hi all,

I'm contemplating a top end rebuild of the old xs, does anyone know of a source for spares in Australia? Yamaha have been helpful in the past but i'd like to look for alternative sources, any ideas?

I just did the top end on my bike,
to buy genuine is very expensive, i
went to the local motor cycle wrecker
who also sells new stuff, he ordered a complete
gasket kit for $125. Yamaha wanted $175 just for the head
gasket, i think he ordered it from a company in WA. Also i think
theres a company in QLD that also sells kits.
The timing chain genuine was $110. non genuine i picked
it up for $58.00.
The gasket kit didnt come with the end seals tho ( the half
moon seals in the head. Tho other gasket kits may include them.
Try ringing around different bike accessary shops.

the end seals are always on ebay plus full gaskets sets worth taking a look

I have a complete top end with cam chain and head gasket out of a 1979sf xs1100 that I parted out due to severe road rash on cylinder head. Used of course. All the parts are out of cylinder head which went for scrap alum. located USA. $60.00 US funds plus shipping if you want parts. Hey Paulio,

Yamaha quit supporting the XS11's major components years ago, so if you're thinking of getting some 1st or 2nd oversized pistons and rings, forget about it!! Aside from putting on a known low mileage set of jugs and pistons, and rehoning the cylinders, you'll want and need to go the big bore route!

You can get a kit from a shop in Fla. around $400.00 US, includes pistons, wristpins, keepers, rings, and head gasket...needed for the larger diameter pistons! You'll then need to get your jugs bored...wait until you have the pistons and that way the machine shop can bore them to match!!
