  • E and F models ?

    Hi can any one tell me the difference in specification with the E model and the F thanks Gaz

  • #2
    one year

    E = 1978
    F = 1979

    There may be a difference in where the TCI box is located but I think that's it.

        Right. Factory colors were different. The only other thing that I'm aware of that's different between 79 and 80 is the side cover emblem.

        (and the side cover attachments??)

        IIRC, the 80 side cover has holes and the 79 has slots

            The years follow the alphabet

            78 = E

            79=F

            80=G

            so on

            in 79 they also began producing the "special"

            79=SF

            80=SG

            so on

              And of course, the Midnight Special used the letter "L" instead of "S". Here's a nice list

                My 80G has holes on the left side and slots on the right. It looks all original too.

                  I think the 78 seat was flater than the 79. I've had both and recovered both. In front of the strap on the 79 it slopes down. The 78 does not. Like it's a big deal but the 79 I've got is way more comfortable than my 78 seat was.
                  There's always a way, figure it out.

                    In the left column, under "Specifications", the specs for the E and F read almost identical, except for mileage and acceleration figures
