Another project found !

Hi i bought a magazine i occasionally buy, just caught my eye this month ,i pondered and thought yer i'll have it .

Scanning the small adds in the back ,low and behold what did i find ? only a partly dismantled XS1100 1978 E Model ,FREE!! YES

FREE!! TO A GOOD HOME !! I thought it would be gone to some
hard core trike nut ,,but to my surprise it was still there !!So i got a van and did the 150 miles to London to get it, still thinking it was too good to be true !!

It even came with a spare engine ,original tool kit ,,manuals ,and oil cooler

really needs,, a tank and everything else needed i got allready for my special so really happy with this find

thought i'd post a pic now and after shes on the road again,

the guy had her years ,and it was stored for 15 years

came with a key ,good exhaust 4 - 1 , perfect carb inlet rubbers



so it really made me happy


coils are naff ,fenders are rusted ,handle bars are rusted ,grab bar rusted ,seat is a little rusty underneath but not ripped so salvageable,carbs need a rebuild obviousely.

Engine is partially stripped ,cam chain or something rattleing he said ,one side panel is broken everything else is good to excellent

I have been looking for a project for a couple of years and to get one like this just stunned me

I like my special but the tanks too small and you get a fuel guage on the standard !!

Also i can turn this into a semi street fighter look

Top Cats basket case has given me the inclanation

must be only half the work in this!!!

over here id have happily paid equivelent of $500.00 for it minimum,
chucked him $60.00 approx as i felt like a Thief !!!
and still stole it i know!! didn't want to insult him and didn't want to pay for a freebie so thought i'd give him a drink
Had to pay approx $175.00 just for an oilcooler before now!!
i looked for 2 years for this baby then one just turned up easy as that
there's some out there somewhere
be patient and it will come, usually just as you give up hoping
and pay good money for one ,,, probably !!
wife says my specials got to go tho ,, that's the down side !!

good find thats what color my bike was tell i painted it blue but i am thinking about painting it white and have fun putting it all back together

Im thinking solid red with a fine metalflake
and some gold wheels ,i saw a German one on ebay it sounds yuk but it looked pretty good really !!

.. i love these kind of finds, i even love hearing about these kind of finds.. but maybe the wife should go insted of the special, you could find another one of those also, one who will like your bikes.
.. maybe one with her own bike
just kidding dont get rid of the woman but dont get rid of the special either!. you will hate yourself if you do

There is a mint special on ebay, 4592803891 if i had a choice of any bike right now,, ANY bike ,, it would be that one there !! i love specials thing is i can turn mine to cash and spend little on the freebie and still have an xs !!
The wife has to put up with one of my bikes in the living room !!
about 2,000 bike mags scattered about
bikes in the way of her washing line !!
bikes on the TV
and she comes a close second to them most of the time

I got to be nice and give one up or i might come home to some vandalism one day !!!
let her think shes got some influence on me,, one day i will get another special
