Does anyone out there know where I might be able to find a 1979 xs 1100sf 160 mile an hour speedometer. I am new to this chat, and have been looking everywhere for one of these. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank's Viper
Like John said, Ebay is the best source, these are highly prized, and rare since the later models changed to 85mph, and many folks have opted to change to the higher speed rated ones!
Has yours actually broken/quite working? OR is it just a bad cracked cover glass? IF just the cracked glass, you may be able to repair it.
Aside from the XS750, most of the early model Yamaha speedos will work, same gear ratio and front wheel size, but some like the 650's only go to 140, but it's still better than 85!

I really need the 160 mph. This thing makes 300 hp. I bought this bike new in 1979, and have been modifying this since I bought it. I also have alot of used parts available if you know of anyone that needs something in particular. I just bought a camara and will be putting alot of it on e-bay in the future. You name it and I have probally got it.
Thank's Mike
Now you've gone and done it!! A 300 hp XS11!! You have definitely got to get your dig camera and shoot us some pictures of this powerhouse monster!! What all have you done to it to attain such power?? Have you stayed with shaft drive, or have you gone to chain drive? Curious minds want to know!
With the $$ to put those kind of changes into an XS11 to get that kind of power makes me think you drive your nickname? That wonderful V-10 machine of Dodge!

Unless you're really trying to make your machine totally stock looking, you can get a mini speedo from several places, including MikesXS, under Accessories, Instruments, they have several styles, whiteface, blackface, for Yamaha 650's, but the XS11 has the same sized front tire, and will work perfectly, albeit a little smaller display!
You can also get a bike speedo unit, believe it or not, with LED or LCD readout, with other trip computer functions built in. And you can keep your OEM speedo, just mount this in addition to it. You mount a magnetic sensor and pickup device on the front wheel and forks, and it counts the revolutions that way!

I do not understand how to put a pitures on this web site, wish I did. But a friends has it posted for me on his web site at http://www.arcfabrication.com/funandfriends.html
The pictures of it are clear and you can click on them to enlarge them so you can really look at them. I do have them also on my web site but I cannot figure out how to get it so you can click on them to enlarge them. My web page is at http://www.viper-creations.com/ takes awhile to load alot of info in there.
My girlfriend is the guru of the computer, she designed the web page.

That is one awesome machine!!! I'll post the pictures once this thread progresses to the second page, so that the extra large photos won't cause side scrolling of the entire thread and text!
I guess I can post the "Little" pictures here, and then put the large ones on the second page!?

Without a doubt I made the trickest cylinder in the world. It has a .040 liner that has been nickacill plated. No the left side is not a secret (smiling)...... I made all the coversions on this bike myself.
Designed and manufactured. Always coming up with new ideas.

I would imagine that he may have gotten some special heads, or some special sleeves that were bigger, probably bored out the alumimum jugs to fit the larger sleeves in there so that he could then bore it out to the 1500cc size!?
Yeah, would like to see the left side also, but I can see the CHAIN sprocket on the rear. Would like to find out where or how they did the chain drive conversion.
And the Turbo kinda jumps out and grabs ya, wonder if it has NO2 as well?
Wonder what model those wheels are from?

I don't even dare ask how much it would cost for the exhausts or the chain drive conversion!?
