  • Broken float post

Just when I get the bike all put together and running,
I took it out last nite, I had a pretty young thing on the back
well ok shes not young but she is pretty lol.
anyway we'd been riding for about an hr and then the bike starts to cough and splatter a bit, we get to our destination and i can smell petrol, look at the motor and fuel is starting to pour out the number 3 pod filter. Anyway i get the bike home and pull the carbies off this morning, remove the float bowls and the float post in the 3rd carbie is broken. well after cursing and swearing, and wondering what the hell im going to do with it, i was able to get the post welded luckily, drilled a hole in the post and was able to put it all back together again. Do you ever have those days when if its not 1 thing its another.
These bikes can really test ur patience at times.
Took her out tonite and shes running pretty well.
Still have to play with the jets and float levels, but im getting there gradually.

The bike... or the pretty young thing?

I had to make that repair once too. Lucky for me, I work with awesome machinists, and one of them made a whole new post. He drilled and tapped the carb body and the new post. Then used a set screw to link them together with a little lock-tite. All this keeping in mind that the height of the post must be precision.
If you get in a bind, let me know and I'll see if I can persuade him to do yours. Of course, you'd have to send your carbs half way around the world
