  • What is "cam follower"

Have looked at the on-line yam parts site.
    Checked cams, valves etc..

Have not found a part called "cam follower", but supposed to rotate cam lobe 180 from it to measure valve clearance.

So I did rotate lobe 180 from the shim and measured there but not being a mc tech, think I missed something some where

    any help appreciated
    Thanks

    Cam follower

It may be the name of the 'bucket' that the shim sits on top of.

      Cam Follower

      John

      1J7-12153-00-00 LIFTER, VALVE

above is what the shim sits on.

"Cam follower" just a mc tech term?

Cam follower is anything that follows the shape of the cam to open the valves. Could be lifters in your chevy, rocker arm thingies in other bikes, but in our case, the buckets, more appropriately, the shims, are what follow the cams. Cam lobe 180 degrees away from the shim is correct.

          Thanks for the clarification.

Only a few parts in there and had me wondering.

          BTW: found 1 2 3 4
          intake 127 102 127 102
          exhaust 152 038 152 203

Also the cam chain seems tight, but zero adjustment left.
Pulled carb's off too, and took apart. Pilot needle on two carb's had no washers or o-ring. Under the screens in the carb's is what looks like rubber from the fuel line along with misc. build up here and there. (had to use an easy-out to remove two jets, slots had been fubr'ed) local shop only has the K&L kits so will look on line for kits.

Surprised it was running so well.

Tomorrow will see if I can make a shim tool and see what’s in there.

Should have done this when I first got it. Don't think it's suffered any damage from riding. Kinda sucks not having a back up bike to ride. Hope to fix that this winter too.
