Xs1.1s has been of the road for considerable time, head off no problem but cannot get barrels off any advice. Tried heat no luck

There was a tool to help remove them. You can make something to help with doing so without too much work. Start with a flat steel about 3mm thick and 25mm wide. Length can be as short as 40mm. Grind down one end like a lawn mower blade so it is flat across the bottom but tapers the full thickness over about 10mm. You put that tool between the case and barrels and tap with a hammer. Move the tool after one or two taps along the barrel. Start at the FRONT of the engine and do NOT try the corners as there are dowels.
The manual shows "reinforcement points" for prying off the barrels just above the front engine mounts.. Chapter 3, page 36 of the "E" manual. Let me know if you would like a pdf of the manual.Ray Matteis
