    Automatic Cam Chain Tensioner LEAK.

I have no recollection of how long ago I did this but probably recorded it here. Several years ago, I replaced my cam chain and installed an auto tensioner. Mine was for a 550 Vision. I think the spring tension is close to that of stock. Anyway, I finally figured out and oil leak situation while replacing the tensioner gasket. The slot that had to be made for the top bolt hole created the leak path. I removed the bolt, filled the slot with RTV and reinstalled. Fingers crossed. File that under Stupid Pet Tricks?

Another way of making it fit properly is to drill one or both of the holes 1/32" larger and use a flat washer on the new shorter bolts.

My leak is/or was between the tensioner and the jugs. If what I did doesn’t fix it I’ll have to replace the tensioner.

Make sure the bolt is not bottoming out.

What skids said! The stock bolts on the XS1100 are too long for the newer part. IIRC you need a 6mmX15mm length not 6mmX20mm. Cheap and easy to find at Ace Hardware. If my memory is off a bit, it may be a 6mmX12mm bolt..

Yep! The bolts are correct for the Vision tensioner.
