Carb Wars- Dirty Fuel Strikes Back. (─‿─)

Ran my bike w/o inline feelterz fOaR 2 years and one month before it caught up to me.
On a run to Dairy Queen (only place in my area not subject to the continuing "Soft-Serve" Crisis) bike idled SLOW.
Discovered #4 exhaust pipe was COLD.

Back at home/garage-spark was good and #4 plug wuz DRY. ( ゚ Д゚)

Removed the carb bank and found #4 fuel idle jet AND Idle mixture screw-hole plugged wit' debris. (⊙︿⊙)

Disassembled/Cleaned ALL carbs to get rid of the fine, red, "chili powder" that inline filters would'a caught. ( ̄ー ̄)b

The "Clamptite" tool thingy works great to tension the bailing wire holding the carb bank to the Pagoda. (^_^)

Change filter at least once per year. If a filter starts to get too much junk, it keeps the fuel from flowing....

I really like the setup for checking the fuel levels off the bike. Thanks for the photos.

                Yur welcome. (^_^)

                Notes-

                1. The fittings wut replace the carb bowl plugs are regular ordinary metric Grease zirks (Nipples?) with the spring/ball removed.
                2. The fuel lines aren't that clear vinyl tubing cuz they're not "bendy" enuf fOaR me. Real fuel line used but "frosted"?
                3. Unsung hero is the cookie sheet (stolened...). All fuel drained/spilled gets poured back into the fuel "dispenser" for re-use.
                4. Whole setup is so "low-techy/low-cost" I figure it's do-able anywhere/everywhere XS's be on the planet. (O_o)

                  Addendum.... ( •_•)

FoAr those actualky wundering why imma using the Carb Pagoda to test/adjust fuel levels in the foist place? (O_o)

I am one of the many who bought/installed those janky parts from the carb kits offered on Ebay. (-‸ ლ)

It's kind'a like wut happens in the movie "Its a Wonderful Life" (Jimmy Stewart...). The little girls sez, "Look, Daddy. Teacher says, every time a bell rings an angel gets its wings". (^_^)

But it's the opposite in this case. Every time one of these "kits" gets installed another XS stops running like a SuperBike. Full Stop. (>_<)

Adjusting the floats with the janky needles/seats installed according to the service manual- "X" millimeters above the carb body gasket surface with the carb bowl removed and with the carbs upside down? (O_o)

Fuel levels are NOT where they's s'posed to be cuz they AIN'T Mikuni AND each needle/seat is also different from the one next to it likely due to poor quality control. (ΘLΘ)

Speaking plainly.... In my case, Float heights were adjusted to the exact right height and yet fuel level was high enuf fOaR it to overflow through the main jet needle and dump uncontrolled into the engine. (⩺_⩹)

NO bike would run right wit' that a'going on.... (⊙︿⊙)

SOOooo.... iffin' any gots these janky needles/seats installed then the only way to know....to really KNOW wut the fuel levels are inside the bowls w/o having X-Ray vision like Clark Kent? (´c_`)

Carb Pagoda or wut ever ya gotta do to see fOaR yurself where the fuel levels are and adjust'em to where's they actually need to be. (^_^)

You gotta yoink out the farnky jets that came wit' the kit too cuz of the "symptoms" they create but that's 'nuther topic... (O_O)
