    Replacing carburettor slider diaphragm

Hi, has anyone got any tips on how to fit new diaphragms to the carb sliders? The sliders that I have use the riveted clamp variety. Thanks

    JBM. Good stuff.

How to measure the carburetor body to determine what size CV diaphragm you need and if JBM Industries has a part that might fit your vintage motorcycle. A chart showing the dimensions of the diaphragms we manufacture and notes on what motorcycles they fit.

Purchase and install the JBM Industries diaphragms:Yamaha XS1100,TX,SX,650,750 KAWASAKI KZ-750, KZ-1100 models. Works on all Mikuni BS38, BS34, and BS32 CV constant velocity carburetors. Restores balanced running. Instructions install BS34SS and Mikuni 26mm.

I believe these will fit your bike. The whole assembly for about the same funds. YAMAHA-CARBURETORS | Page 3 | CRUZINIMAGE.NET

Thanks for the link to the shop really appreciate you taking the time to answer, unfortunately by the time tax, postage to the UK has been added it works out quite expensive. Cheers 😊

I understand your concerns, fortunately, so far, we don't face those exorbitant import fees. Consider how long the original diaphragms lasted and choose accordingly. I have never used the JBM's but have read several reviews from some of our members and they have been positive. Obviously, the issue being you have to be mechanically inclined to install them. Keep in mind the first link that Deebs posted. You have to mark them because they don't have the key bulge point on them and if you don't orient the diaphragm correctly it will not function properly. If you look at what you have now you will see a hole down in the bottom of the cylinder and it's current orientation in relation to the key that holds it in the same place. The reason you need to mark the JBM so that you keep them oriented the same. That is why I posted about the CruzinImage products. You still have to transfer a few things from yours to those but a lot less work involved. I realize money is always a factor in decision making but as I stated the originals lasted decades and although I have never had to use either of the above products the CruzinImage are made in Japan. Most of the products that our members have used have had positive reviews from them.
