I don't do much highway riding but wondered who makes a decent universal windshield that I can put on/take off easily for when I do. Small but effective if possible.
I've tried a "spitfire" (knockoff) on my '78 and now have a larger National Cycle Plexistar 2 on my '79F. The Spitfire got the wind off my chest nicely and was pretty low profile/good looking and matched the square headlight profile of the standards. But it caused helmet buffeting and medium amounts of wind noise. Now the Plexistar II which is much bulkier visually, the looks are I dunno, not great I 'd say. I have mine adjusted where I am able to look over it while riding. Zero helmet buffetting but even more wind noise (I don't wear earplugs and my helmet is kind of a cheap one). Excellent wind/rain protection, almost to a fault in warmer weather as I wish my hands had more air flow. The good news is that it is very easily removed without any tools.
This is the type I use. Lots of wind protection. I picked it up at a Rice-O-Rama swap meet for $2.00 but had to make my own mounts. I ran the Spitfire when I first built the bike but it was too cold in the winter.

I had the Spiitfire for a bit. It got shattered by a rock on the interstate. Better than the rock hitting me directly. Spitfire didn’t take it well. The National Cycle product is superior IMHO.
