xs 1100 brake Squeal

Front brakes were squealling on a recently purchased 79 xs 1100 so I replaced the front pads. Ive read and seen there are supposed to be shims that back the pads. These are long gone...... Whats the fix ?

This is going to be more of a comment to open up further discussion on those shims and brake parts in general from Yambits. First off the OP does not state in his post or his profile whether he or she has a standard or a special. MJP can you clarify? The one thing that I have learned over the years concerning Yambits is that most of the parts they sell are geared towards the standards as that is primarily the bikes they had over there. They did have the sports and many of the parts for the sports cross over to specials. Now for the main point and opening this up for discussion because I have never owned a standard. The shims that the site has listed are probably geared towards standards and will they or will they not fit on standard pads and calipers?

Those shims pictured above are for a Standard. They will fit all years, front and rear calipers.

Jim, the shims above would fit your 80 MNS rear only. Maybe not the 81.

The XS1100 standard has the same front calipers as an XS650. That opens a lot of purchasing options.
