    Gittin old ain't for sissies!

Man, my body has really been giving me the signal to do something else this past few months. Back in April I was in North Georgia and got to playing with a stray dog that was running around a campfire I was staying at. Long and the short of it I tweaked my knee pretty good and couldn't bend it for a full week, pretty much grounded me. Luckily the camp host was kind enough to take me into town for groceries and checked in on me until I got to where I could ride again.

So from there I headed up to Deals Gap for a couple of weeks at the Cheoah Point Campground and although it did improve it still hurt. Was going to head up to Ohio to my favorite festival grounds but the weather was still awfully chilly, no sense of riding 400 miles to a clothing optional campground when the high temperature is forecast to be 65° Ended back up at Cheoah Point another two weeks, still sore.

So weekend before last I finally made it up here to the Athens, Oh area. Quite a few of my friends saw that I was hurting and insisted I get some medical attention. Sure enough as suspected there was as no damage, just a lot of arthritis related swelling and to fluid buildup in the joint. Decided what the heck if I'm going need complete rest awhile I might just as well get everything else a good once over such as diabetes screening, prostate screening colonoscopy, all the usual good stuff.

So, long and short of it I'll be staying in the Athens area for awhile, possibly even signing a lease for an apartment. This could very well keep my away from the vagabond life awhile, I'll still be making trips just not living the road life full time. Unless of course this knee heals up, we'll see.

YIKES, sorry to hear of the troubles. Our central nervous system sure can de-rail our plans when things go wonky. As in OUCH, this body ain't going nowhere today.

Good for Doc to 'kick the tires & blow the horn' once in a while, so that is great you are getting that done.
Hope in the meantime that your knee gets happy and heals up so you can get back on the highways for the fall riding scene.

Sorry to hear that. I think your "relaxed" approach (that's what I make of it ...) is very good. I hope you get well soon!

Athens is a nice place to rest up.

We can't compete with the tiny little mountain gal, but we hope to see you i September as well.

I'm about to take my first motorcycle camping trip in a few weeks- to the UP.

          Get better.....

She's "in the neighborhood" of Robbinsville so there is that...

I've got a few good long time friends here in Athens and having a reasonably well functioning public transportation system along with both a medical school and physics lab should keep my mind well enough occupied.

Have fun in the U.P. and don't forget to pack an extra set of drawers in case you need to run on the grates while crossing the machinaw bridge!

I'm afraid of heights and there is some construction in the right lanes in both directions.

I hope to get this monkey off my back.
