1980 XS1100 Special Brake Ticking Front Calipers

Ticking noise from pads moving around and light application of brake stops it. They do squeal and I took one apart and the piston shim is gone but the pad spring and metal fork protector are there.

Maybe some rtv on the piston/pad interface would help?
