The bad thing is that the larger 1196cc kit is as big as you can go, and thins the cylinder sleeves even more than the 1179set. And once you get them bored for it, you have no more room for another boring. With the 1179 kit, you can still get another bore job IF/WHEN the 1179 wears out!? But then again, you could possibly just get another set of OEM jugs to get rebored!? The price right now is right, but if it gets near $400.00, you can get NEW for that price!

Mix, the slightly thinner sleeves won't be an issue. Check out modern engines where size and weight nowadays seems all important. Pistons are a tin-foil width apart! Wiseco 1196cc XS cylinder heads are still super reliable and trouble free. They run around 20 - 30degC hotter than normal with their higher compression. I've done 60,000 kms on mine without a single hiccup. Certainly not a pampered 60,000 either - not by a long shot. I'd say, if you're gonna re-bore, then go for the biggest you can get. Don't hold back! Life's too short! You'll get bucketloads of extra kickass torque. Another old spare cylinder head laying in a cupboard is all you're ever gonna need for the life of the bike.
