    Missing air cleaner wing nuts

I stupidly lost 3 out of the 4 wing nuts for the air cleaner. Of course, they are two different part numbers with one no longer being available. Does anyone have a source for these wing nuts, or at least the sizes so that I can visit the hardware store to find a substitute?

The part numbers are: 43) 90122-06013-00 BOLT, WING and 44) 90122-06012-00 BOLT, WING

I'm almost positive they are a 6mm 1.0 bolt. Take the one you have to Ace hardware and match the thread and length.Ace sells metric wing nuts, so you can buy a bolt just a little longer run the wingnut all the way on with the wings facing the bolt head, and you have it. You can take a "long" 6mm and run it up into the air cleaner with the one you have already in place. Put a mark at the airbox/bolt joint, and you now have the length of the longer one. If you use hex key head bolts, as in the side covers, you can put a bit of JB Weld to keep everything together.

Thanks DiverRay! I actually was considering using hex head bolts as I have never removed the air cleaner when out on a ride, and have hex keys in my tool kit anyway.

Judging by the part numbers my best guess is you'll need 12 and 13mm lengths. Seems rather short to me but I've been wrong before

They are long, IIRC there is a clip that keeps them from falling out. I just had my eye worked on, so I'm not going to be in the shop for about a week, otherwise I would have dug through my parts to find them.

Ah, now it makes sense! They aren't 12&13mm long but rather 120 and 130. An inch is roughly 25 1/2 millimeters long.

The "clips" mentioned can be found in the pull out drawers with the other fasteners at the local hardware store, not sure of their proper name. They're made of a similar material as fiber washers but thinner and help keep those long screws from falling all the way out, I've replaced a couple of mine since owning my bike.

DiverRay - I hope that you have a full and speedy recovery! I'll take a look to make sure that the clips are still present.

Lab3 - I had no idea that the fastener sizes were in the part numbers. That's a cool piece of knowledge! 🤠

Deebs11 - $42, plus shipping is way to rich for my blood. Lol! That's an interesting solution in the second picture, and the 3rd photo is definitely what I am missing.

Sounds like I will be talking to my helpful hardware man!!!

Yes, those clips are what snags on the foam filters making them damn near impossible to remove. The later bikes that I owned had E-Clips that were better.

Skids, like me, you have the K&N air filter. No foam and easy to clean. The clips don't catch the K&N.

Very true. The foam filters I had big trouble with were "Uni Filters".
