    Those kits from XJ4Ever are well worth any premium you might pay. The installation is fool proof. I have the same on my bike.

      On my "Continental Trips" I had spare rubber lines just in case. I even got an extra/third set from Andreas Weiss when I cleaned out some of his last inventory a while back. (ʘ‿ʘ)

      But I just couldn't bring muhself to install'em in this situation fOaR some reason... (≖ ︿ ≖ )

      Note- Seems fitting that the leak/break happened at or near that clamp. (⊙▂⊙)

      I mean, when I'd squeeze the lever I'd see the lines plump up like a Ball Park Frank everywheres BUT near those clampz. (*´-`*)

        I put SS lines on my touring XS11 decades ago. Bullet proof but as noted, the feel really is different - firmer and less give. More like on or off. After decades I decided to go back to NOS lines I had preserved. Softer feel and seems to have a more nuanced control over breaking. Both are fine, just different.

          Yup...Very much different. (°_°)

          Just got back from a run to Der Weinersnitchel (5 chili dogs fOaR 5 dollars..) and first thing I did when I got back was adjust the lever position so it matched the travel/sweet spot of my hand/fingers. (~‾⌣‾)~

          Old rubber lines remind me of when I had cable brakes and the cable was a bit s t r e t c h y. Brakes would engage and then I'd keep adding pressure till the cable stopped stretching and the grip felt HARD. ( /・・)ノ

          SS lines are like NO stretchy at ALL. Wut you squeeze it wut you get. ( ノ・ェ・ )ノ

          STRANGELY.... Imma thimkin this might just be adjustable. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

          Y'know hows lots of newbies begin their posts with "My front brakes are spongy" or "Can't get the air out of front brakes."??? (O_o)

          The "cure" seems in contention. I mean some advise squeezing the lever half-way and waiting over night. Others say MIGHTY VAC is the solution. Other options I can't recall. ┐(‘~`)┌

          I can say that NONE of those options above have ever worked fOaR me. (´~`ヾ)

          I unattach the MC from the handlebars, install a PLUNGER handle in the mount, point the front of the MC DOWN, and then squeeze the lever a few times. ヾ(⌐■_■)/

          Wut imma sayin' is that depending on how much of the air one gets out of that "high point" (front banjo bolt/front section...) the firmer the lever feels. ( ̄ー ̄)

          I went whole hawg and bled all the air out so's the lever is hard as a rock but I could'a stopped somewheres in between. (︶‿︶)

          Not an EXACT method but depending on how big that air bubble is would add a little mOaR "softness" to the system. ٩(⊙‿⊙)۶

            Been a while since i saw anyone post about those lines. How well did they fit for you? I worked with Chacal (Len) to make those and we went back and forth quite a few times before we had the exact fit. I had one of every North American model at the time so I could easily fit them up and make any changes needed. So glad to see em posted up again. Thanks Larrym

              A 16mm master cylinder on a Special will give good linear lever feel and plenty of stopping power. Leaving air in the system doesn't sound like a good idea, JMHO.

                I mean I know that somewheres peoples figured out how to make these lines wurky. Just some random unsung heroes who cooperated together and Imma benefitting frum the end result of their efforts. ( •_•)>⌐■-■

                Not a fan of air in brake lines OR hydraulic lines either. ( ゚_ゝ`)

                Hence the toilet plunger handle heroics to get the air OUT....
