  • WTB... A few things for my XS

    Hey all,

I have had so many amazing people sell me or send me stuff for my XS from this site. So, I figured I should put it out there. I am looking for a fork brace for a 1980 G (Standard). I don't want to spend the money on one from Fast for the past. I am also looking for a decent seat cover for a G seat. I bought one off Ebay... boy oh boy is it bad. Cheers!

You may not want to pay the price of a Tarozzi, Yamaha Fork Brace by Tarozzi, but there are few options out there concerning fork braces. Fastech, a british product has one available for the standards but it costs more then the Tarozzi from fast from the past. Yamaha XS1100 Fork Brace – The British Fork Brace Company

I had to update my original post. The actual brace that fits a standard is this one. Fork Brace / Stabilisator Yamaha XS 1100 XS 1979\84 (25-0031) - Motorcycles United

I second the B&H cover. Put one on a MNS and it looked like a new stock seat.

There is something wrong with the Tarozzi listing:

Click image for larger version Name:	Fork Brace.JPG Views:	0 Size:	91.8 KB ID:	883967

What is an "XS1100 Sport" that only exists in 1981-1982?

The XS750SE is a Special that shares the entire front end with the XS1100 Special, yet the Tarozzi will fit an XS750 Special, but not an XS1100 Special?

The sport was only released in Europe. The front end is more like the standard versus the US specials.

It has a leading axle like the Special. Do the XS750 and XS1100 have the same fork diameter? It seems donebysunday fitted the Tarozzi brace on a Special way back when.

                I found a donebysunday post.

This would be the Tarozzi fork brace made to fit the European XS1100 Sport, I like it's looks better than the T-kat.
I fitted one of these to my LH which has same measurements as any other Special but the sport is different, the Tarozzi brace will fit but I had to elongate the mount holes in the fender, lowering the fender to clear this Tarozzi brace.
I could show it to you it's my avatar but I can't figure how to enlarge the avatar and keep it from blurring, can't find the photo in my computer

Marty, I actually gave him the idea about the tarozzi. I had bought one and I actually used a grinder to grind the edges down enough to mount it on my MNS. Posted about it and Done asked me about it and he bought his and came up with the idea of elongating the hole mounts on the fender to allow clearance for the brace. I actually stripped mine and then powder coated it with a mirror gloss black finish. Didn't want to modify the fender, the purist in me, and after doing all of that decided not to install it. I actually still have it. At the time I thought that the fork was needed to stabilize the wobble in curves and found that rebuilding the forks was all I needed to do. I don't ride at high speeds through curves on the MNS. As most of us know they don't handle well doing that.

For kicks I went and measured them. It seems like the 750 Special has 36mm tubes and the 1100 Special has 37mm tubes....even though they have the same lower forks. Good point.

I have a Tarozzi fork brace on my 80G. The correct part # is 25-0031. Found one still available in Holland. Originally bought from Fast from the Past but they don't seem to list in any more. Cheap any any price! Big difference in front-end performance/steering. Would highly recommend.

I had to edit my original post yesterday and posted the same link to the 25-0031. Don't know why Fast from the Past quit listing it.

I likewise had a Tarozzi from fast from the past. Honestly, it's not *that* much money IMO, to have something that bolts up to one of our old/increasingly rare bikes, I was thankful for the option!

This one has straight rate springs, Race Tech emulators, and the TKat brace. I didn’t think it really needed the brace until I did the other stuff.

The photo credit goes to JeffH. I was hustling through the corner. He was following on his GoldWing, right hand on the throttle, left hand operating the camera.
