    I think that people think their arms are calibrated and over tighten things.I know i do.I'm learning the hard way.

      You are right about using hi temp RTV, but the instructions say to allow the RTV to set up as per manufacturer's instructions. The seating tool is designed to expand the top of the insert to wedge the knurled surface against the base metal of the head. Did you do the job with the head on or off the engine?

        With the head on.Did not use the drill but put alot of lube on the tap.Chips clung to the tap(which i was glad)Cranked bike and chips flew out.Put RTV and let it sit for a week.When i hit the insert with the tool and hammer instructions said to hit lightly.But this is a solid repair

          yeah so i looked at it again and noticed that who ever installed the helicoil didnt drill the whole all the way out so the plug hits and wont go all the way into the chamber so i will just have to drill it the rest of the way. hope i can get it done without taking the head off.

              With a bit of searching, you should be able to find some posts talking about hooking up a shop vac to the intake manifold, then doing the drilling and tapping with the intake valve open. This creates quite a strong airflow out of the combustion chamber, with chips flying out at amazing speed. This is definitely a "safety goggles mandatory" job.

                I bought it to repair a friends 79 SF that I repaired while I was recovering from the back surgery.
