  • Float height, Later carbs

I need a refresher on the initial float height on the later (80/81) carbs with the plastic float. I seem to recall 23mm as a measurement but my memory is questionable at best. I need the starting point before adjusting with the level tubes in place. I appreciate the help as always.

your recall is correct Rasputin. Actual fuel level should be at the bowl retainer screw lock washer(3mm) down from top edge of bowls. Also, VERY important that all four bowl fuel levels are EXACTLY the same so all four intake of fuel is the same. That way, all four cyls. are doing the same 'work' maximizing power output ant any given throttle application.

Your memory serves you well. 23mm it is. Of course I am sure you remember that is with the gasket not in place.

Correct cajun31. Also, that actual fuel level is to be checked with engine running and at operating temperature. Sounds like he has the tube set-up to do exactly that. Careful and not let any fuel hit those hot mufflers!
