Over the course of the last three weeks I've been in a position to get a lot of work caught up on and damn, my bike seems to be running better and smoother than it ever has. The only complaint is from earlier today when I ran out for a quick trip into town.
The bike just seemed.... lethargic when compared to how it ran a couple days back. It felt like it was starving for air and the exhaust smelled awfully rich so I started with my basics and pulled the very recently cleaned air filter. No problem there so I checked out the also very recently replaced spark plugs, they looked a bit dark.
Took the seat and tank off to get a different look at the very recently replaced intake boots and quickly found the problem, the cap from a can of spray lube was wedged into the mouth of the air intake!
Generally speaking I keep close tabs on putting away my tools and making sure there's no extra parts around after working on something. Looks like I'm needing to focus more on also getting my solvents put away properly!
