What is a good way to set the idle air screws? I am having a slight stutter from idle to 3000 rpm. Above 3000, it runs great, but below it is acting like the carbs are loading up. I have the screws set at about 1 1/2 turns. Thanks,
J
Try about 1/2 turn out from the current setting, run it, and see how it does. If it helps, keep going that way. If it's worse, try going the other direction, about 1/4 turn at a time.

Thanks Ray, will do. I think I found part of the problem. I need new carb adapter boots. I brought home some fuel tank sealer from work, and liberally applied it to the boots while they were still hot, and let it dry. While I was doing this, I also re-set the idle screws to 2 turns out, and started the bike and re-set the carb sync. Went for a ride and it was smooth. One more question. Will I have to re-check the sync every few hundred miles? The carbs were a little off of each other, and I just did the carbs about 200 miles ago. Thanks again.
You should be OK for a while on the sync. You said you had a carb boot leaking, and when you fixed that, the sync would have been off again. I check my carbs about every 10K miles, or if I notice something sounding a little off.
