Carb Leak- A real head scratcher

79 models should be the same as 78 model carbs and the float valves were metal to metal to shut the flow. Not viton tipped.

I'm just going to say-don't buy parts from Amazon for these bikes-stick with genuine OEM. to eliminate issues. Have had my 80 SG since 1986 so know a thng oir two about these bikes.

Buy OEM replacement float valve assemblies. Yes it sucks to pay $20-25 for each one, but I've found it's the only way to actually get things to work.
