  • My 78 XS1100 Resto-Mod (Dianne)

    Folks

Today I started Dianne as I didn't hear her run before so it was good to hear. She runs but not well. The PO had someone build and send him some BS34 Carbs BUT these belong on a KZ1100. He also installed pod filters and removed the airbox. I will be undoing all of this and returning to original carbs and airbox setup. I have a few oil leaks as well to address. The front forks are leaking too. The good news is that the charging system works although the battery is bad, I have 12V but no CCA to start the bike. Pics are soon to come of her cosmetic state. I intend to leave her just as she is with the minor dents and paint chips.

The aluminum, the chrome, and the pilot (instrument) box graphics are unusally nice.

It's going to look great when you get it fixed up.

I hope I can make her look like a nicely aged Ole Girl when I'm done.

I've stock pipes but I don't think they'd do her justice.

You may have bad filters here. Check for an inner lip (which is bad).

Read the "new member with questions" post. There is a very good picture of good and bad pod filters, and the reason for some being bad.
