Has anyone replaced the entire tail light unit on an XJ with a "universal" one from Old bike barn ect.? I havn't been able to find a replacement lense other than used ones.
did i tell you i got one? i honestly don't remember. i do have one on the fender . but if you look at the pics around of my bike,i mounted the lic. plate under the light and had to hack mine up so the light would shine on it. But i would get rid of my other one if you can't find one.

Chevy, sorry for the confusion, we pmed each other on this topic, and you said you had the whole fender and all, and all I need is the lens, thanks again.
I'm sure I'll find one soon, thanks to all of the xsive's on here thanks all.
But I thought maybe you might need your original lens, but if I cant find one reasonable, and you could part with yours. I'll definetly let you know, thanks for all your help.
Oh btw, I picked up some washers today, couldnt find small enough lock washers so bought some #6 flat washers and I'm going to put two together and install to raise my needles.
They look about the right thickness, and the hole looks about the right size for the needle and just alittle bigger.
Hey John,
I just put some bags on my bike and had to move the signals. Went to a swap meet in Springfield and found a tali light / signal assemble from an Indian. I put it on and it looks sweet, so i have the old light. Let me know if you are interested. We might finally meet and ride! Tomorrow is suposed to be pretty nice.

XJ11John,
Thanks for the reply, my lense is the same way, cracked and white residue. It may last for years or it may fall apart the next time I bump it. The only thing that worries me about used ones is what kind of shape are they really in?
My bike is a long way from fully restored, i.e. it has lots of charector also.
Right now it's down with a fuel leak, I'm trying to work up the courage to tear into it. It's running very rough and leaking gas from somewhere on the left side of the motor. I may mess with it today alittle. Trying to decide if to remove the octopus assembly and then drop the bowls and check for trash.
