carb. cleaning/what do you use?

just wondering what some of you use to clean your carbs. inside and out. napa's aluminum brightener works great. old tar gas and gummy sticky stuff. brass parts also. but it seems to leave the aluminum kind of black looking if you dont rub/scrub it right before you rinse it. like in between carbs where its hard to scrub. does anybody know of anything that leaves the alum. somewhat bright looking like when its new?

Berryman's carb cleaner in the gallon can with a dip tray works good and is a real bargin. I like JB carb cleaner the best but they only sell it to shops.

i've got Berryman's carb cleaner . i guess i'm not inpressed. takes to long and how do you get the 4-carbs. in the can to clean the inside and outside?

you got to do 1 carb at a time and with 4 carbs it does take time to get them all cleaned up and rebuilt and put back on the bike

I set all 4 Carbs together in the ultrasonic. I use Zep mixed at a ratio of 4oz to 1 gal of water. Usually let the soak for 30 min or so. Seems like I always have to free up the chokes after they come out with LPS or the likes.

I have two of the one gallon buckets of carb cleaner. I put two carb bodies in each one and let them soak for a while. I've had good luck with that. I then spray them off with a light weight spray cleaner.

As a note of safty be very careful will all carb cleaner, esp. the stuff in the buckets. This is really powerful stuff. I always wear rubber gloves and glasses. The glasses are real important when spraying out the carbs. Seems like every time I do this I hit an odd angle and end up with the stuff blown in my face.

Soak them 24 hours in vinegar based bathroom cleaner and water (50%), clean with a brush and rinse in hot water.
Then use an air gun to blow dry.
Very cheap and very !!!! impressive results.
It is also very good to remove rust from zinc plated parts. But after that you need to rust protect, as it thins the zinc coating.
