That is a nice one. The pipes would need to be polished, but I think they would probably look nice after that. They have the normal pitting like most all of them do at this point. If I were in the market for one and didn't already own three I would seriously be looking at this one. It only has a little over 2400 miles on it and sounds like all the typical refresh chores have been addressed. The only thing they didn't say was done are the brakes. Something I would have to do if I purchased it. One of the other things they mentioned in the description is that only 250 were made in 1980. I think we all know that is not a true statement. Seems these MNS's are starting to sell for good money lately.

I saw that one too Marty. The bidding on it was already at $5000.00 yesterday. The guy that owns it got into a discussion with Greg Teter (BA80) on facebook. Greg seems to think the motor has had work done to it. He argued that the motor looked painted rather then powder coated. The owner tried to ensure him it was original. Who knows for sure? The reason I like the one Dave posted above is because it is complete. The side engine covers look good and the mileage is minimum. This one, being the MNS purist I am would require that I look for the decals and I would have to paint those covers. If you look close it is also missing a chunk of the black filler on the right middle of the grab bar. I know I am maybe too picky. Interesting how Yamaha did those grab bars originally. That is some kind of a hard glossy plastic rather then paint. Over time it just falls off. The one that Dave (Bax) pointed us too only has 2400 original miles as well. It is worth every penny it draws. Interesting that so many are up for sale right now.

It seems they come up for sale often, and often nice. I know the discussion has come up on this forum of how many there were. I’m sure it was over 250 because I’ve seen a bunch of them by attending the rallies. No matter how many there are, the XS11 Midnight is probably holding value better than any other XS11 and far better than any other Special.
