New Jersey XS11s

So I've owned and been riding my 79' XS 11 Special since 1987. I've attended hundreds of Bike Nights, Escorted Rides, Bike shows and gatherings, etc., and also just ridden all over the state.

I have never run into another XS11, anywhere - ever. Is there anyone in NJ who has one? Really Just Wondering!

I have had my 80 SG since 1986. I have atttended a few biker blessings locally. Medical issues kind of put a damper on my riding and had a bad accident in 2012 on my Kawasaki. I will admit this and last year I have ridden my XS more than I have in the past couple of years. I dont see any XS's on the road at all. Most Harleys and sport bikes. I have seen Ducati, Aprilla, Moto Guzzi, Cagiva and old Hondas at the biker blessing. By the way I'm in North New Jersey-I dont care what the Governor calls it-Warren, Hunderton, Sussex County is North New Jersey.

Hello @oldyam80sg: I am sorry to hear about your 2012 Accident, but I am glad you are back riding your XS. I am in Central Jersey and usually attend groups in Central and going South. If you are ever planning to ride in this neck, drop me a line. We have Biker Blessings, Biker Church and some secular groups. I also sometimes take my classic bike to the classic car circuit in Asbury Park on Thursdays. By the way, I don't care what our Governor says about anything! I also agree that Warren, Hunderton and Sussex Counties are North New Jersey. Stay safe.

I have a '79 XS1100 Special also and live in central Jersey. It's too congested in the eastern part of North Jersey for me but South Jersey in the Pine Barrens is a nice ride and the western part of North Jersey and across to Eastern PA is fun too. There was a member who I have not heard from in years-Ed who lived in Sussex county N.J I believe-just checked his profile and was last active in 2015. 3 years after my motorcycle accident, sadly never got to ride with him because of complications from the accident.

@Osprey2 - It would be great to ride with ya'. Extreme Machines on Rt. 33 in Millstone Township has a Bike Night the last Thursday of warm months. Their last Bike Night is Thursday 8/24 at 6pm and I am planning to be there. HOWEVER if it rains they cancel the event and do not re-schedule; so if you are planning to ride out there make sure the weather does not get in the way!!! Look for me, I'll be the only other XS11 there. BTW, I also like riding through the Pine Barrens. There is a Wawa in the Whiting area where a lot of old bikers hang out, but I have not been there this year.

@oldyam80sg - Doesn't sound too good for Ed if he has not been on-line in 8 years. There was also a South Jersey guy who had messaged me a few times from this board, but he also disappeared after the first few messages.


No other NJ XS1100's ??? How about Eastern Pa?

I have never seen an XS in my 40 years of riding in N.J. or PA as I lived there for 2 years.

SteveO - Thanks for the info for Bike Night at EXTREME. Will they have one in Sept? I've noticed over the years fewer and fewer listings for the XS11 on Craigslist. Used to see them all the time. I picked mine up as non-running from a guy in Whiting for $200 back in 2012. Took a couple years to finally get it on the road but she runs surprisingly smooth and reliable. Do you live near Extreme Machines? I'm just south of there in Cream Ridge. It would be great to get together and share notes on these amazing machines. Maybe even do a southern loop to Chatsworth and back! ??? LMK, Tom

Osprey2 : Tom, Looks like the Extreme Bike Night yesterday was a wash-out. I don't know if they canceled it but it was drizzling at 6 so I did not go. I don't think they do it in September, so for that we have to wait for next may Ugh! Still plenty of riding days so I'd love to meet-up for Coffee and bike talk. I live pretty close to Extreme so we could find someplace in the middle (like Quik Check on 537 Monmouth Road going towards Freehold, because they have outside tables to hang at). Unfortunately I am not retired yet, so it would have to be an early evening or maybe a Saturday. I'm looking forward to seeing another XS11 parked next to mine.

@ anyone else: Still looking for someone else in New Jersey with an XS or XJ, or anyone else who would like a ride.

Osprey2 : Tom, Tonight (Monday 8/28) will work for me. Cloudy but no real rain in the forecast until later in the evening. If the Quick Check on 537 (going towards Freehold) sounds good, I will be there around 6pm. I will only bail if it is raining!
