  • 1978-1979 Grab Rail

    Good morning, fellas.

I just bought a 1979 XS1100 Special with only 6,600 miles on it and I love it! But the thing is, is it's missing the grab rail that goes all the way around the back of the seat. And I have been looking all over the Internet with zero luck.

Do you know where I can get one? It seems like it's the only thing missing on my bike.

    Thank you - Thomas

Keep an eye on ebay! The '79 Special is a one year only for the seat, grab rail, and a few other parts. You should also keep looking at our for sale list here. they do turn up now and then. As I have an '80, modified seat on my '79, I don't have a grab rail.

      Okay, thank you very much.

I believe the one year only grab rail looks like this. They come up on eBay once in a while. Rare part.

What you have pictured is the correct grab bar for the '80 G Standard which I believe is only one year.
The '79 SF, like you stated is a one year only grab bar but ha an extra bend.
The interchange guide shows both side by side.
1980 XS1100G "Dolly G" Full Dresser (with a coat of many colors )
          1979 XS1100SF (stock-euro mods planned)
          1984 XV700L Virago (to be hot-modded)
          1983 XJ750MK Midnight Maxim (semi-restored DD)
          1977 XS650D ( patiently awaiting resto)

Sometimes it takes a whole tank of gas before you can think straight.

Correct Schming. Here is a picture of my 79sf grabrail. Notice the extra bend / upswing at the turn signal. Too bad it has those scratches / scrapes.
