So in order to use the stock XS throttle cable in doing the ZRX carb mod ( or in my case GPZ 1100 carbs) is the issue the stock cable does not fit in the holder bracket all the way. I have the throttle cable and carbs in my apartment and can see that this is the issue. Can I just take the metal end of the throttle cable and grind/ sand it down? so it fits? I tried to find to find a flanged bushing but no luck. I don't want to take the bracket on the GPZ carbs and modify that in any way.

Ok so I had a spare throttle cable in my apartment. Today, took it to my Moms house and using a grinding wheel in a Dremel tool, carefully grinded just a bit all the way around the metal ferrule. Now when I put the cable on the carbs it goes nicely in the holder. All I got to do now is clean my XS carbs so I can ride the bike to Moms house where I can put the GPZ carbs on and see what I will do next with my torn ligaments in my knees.1980 XS1100 SG
