Where do you get your choke cable set up and bracket? Cant seem to find anything on E bay. The choke cable is short maybe 8-10" at best.

I bought a manual choke cable kit at the auto parts. Because of the spring on the choke lever it wants to stay open. Kink the cable a little helps.

      ^^^^what he said^^^^^

Such is the nature of doing "custom" work, you need to either adapt something else to do what you want or fabricate parts from the ground up.

I saw a kit from Dorman that includes a real thin bracket with a hole in it from Auto Zone. I also found a Edelbrock choke kit but no bracket that looks a lot beefier so I will make a bracket as I cant seem to find one alone. Still looking at other options.

Thanks to Bonz-he showed me a thread on ZRX website where a key-ring can be used. The choke cable since I cant seem to find one short enough with the ball end am using a cable repair end. Waiting on carb bracket. Hate waiting for parts but some are coming in this week. The carbs came in Friday and look really clean.

...And the pictures you sent show the vacuum nipples on the intake themselves behind the throttle plate vs the intake manifold boots. The GPZ 1100 carbs look to be the Huckleberry for this modification. Pending your results of course.

I remember I used a bicycle gear-shift lever and cable. I pulled it off an abandoned bike in NYC. I mounted the lever to the handlebars and ran the cable down to the carbs. Worked fine.

I don't want anything on the handlebars. I know it would work. My ZRX 1100 has the left housing for the choke cable but I like the cable on the side where it is easier to access.

Issue I'm having now is the end where you put the cable on. I cant seem to find the part where the hole goes through and clamps the wire to keep it from moving.

Ok so I bought a choke kit on E Bay as the auto parts store really didn't have any that looked sturdy enough. After measuring everything, I cut the sheath down to fit inside where the stock cable would go. I bought a choke bracket (stainless steel) and had to trim it to fit on the carb top. Took maybe 1/2 hour using a carbide bit in my die grinder. One thing I noticed-the choke cables that are used on Harleys and other bikes are stranded wire cable. The automobile stuff is solid wire. You really need some pretty sharp cutting pliers to cut both. I read that if the carbs are very clean then the choke is quickly shut off. Pics will follow soon. I also added a stainless steel key ring as a backup.

The automobile solid wire was hard to pull for some reason, so I modified a different bracket and am using the choke cable off a Harley. Now with the wire cable it is a lot easier to pull open.

That really gives you a sense of appreciation for the folks that do custom bike work when you consider all the modifications involved, doesn't it? That's the reason I don't knock people's projects, an appreciation for what it takes even when I'm not impressed with the look of the final product.

The carbs have the choke cable bracket attached and the cable installed. I just need a day to put my XS carbs on and ride to my Moms house if my legs and feet hold up. The weather in NJ is been warm and unseasonably mild for this time of year except for the cold spell we had for maybe 2 weeks tops.
