  • Sealing Leaking XS1100E Fuel Tank Sender

I've been reading through a variety of posts on fixing XS1100E/F fuel sending units that are leaking through the electrical pass through (not gasket). NOS sender units are unobtanium so patching is all that's left though I'd pay dearly for a NOS unit. Comments seem to come down to JB Weld 8217 TankWeld and POR-15 Patch. Unfortunately there are no long term follow ups as to how these worked. If you have some good/bad experience with these (or something even better), your comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. My XS is dead in the water which is too bad since the rest of the bike is show quality (pix attached) but the patch someone did some years on the original sender ago finally gave up the ghost

    Thanks,

    Glen

My POR15 Patch is still holding, but it has only been about 5 or 6 months.

I would use it again if I needed to fix another one.

This product was new to me, and I have found other uses for it besides my motorcycles....not necessarily even fuel related.

what about finding a good used one ? I had a problem with one on a Suzuki and i couldn't find a good one at the time so a made a temp blanking plate from 3mm aluminium. worked a treat. not bothered about having a fuel gauge as the tap has a reserve. its still on the bike now but did use a brand new gasket.

I used the JB Tank Weld several months ago. Still holding. E0 fuel only.
