  • Cam timing question

Hi All, in reassembling after top end rebuild, I simply could not get the cam sprockets to line up with the bolt holes when both the crank and cams were aligned perfectly with the marks (and keeping good tension between the crank and the intake cam sprocket). See pics to see how close I got--if cam marks are perfect, crank is just past TDC. Visually the piston does seem to top out exactly when the crankshaft marks are aligned, so I don't think the pointer needs adjusting. Am I close enough? New cam chain is an EK 219H, bought from MikesXS.com as direct replacement.

    Any thoughts/advice appreciated.
    Thanks all!
    Mike

Line up the cam marks, and the crank pointer should be on the base of the "T", NOT the hash mark. If that is what you are seeing, your good to go.
