As I stated in a previous post, the Color tune has not so great reviews and on top of that is not cheap. I cant see constantly spending money to buy things that may or may not work. Call me old school but it is how it is.

I don't know about with a Morgan unit, but with conventional gauges, the idle mixture can be dialed in rather easily. Just watch the gauge carefully while turning the mixture screw in/out and stop at the highest vacuum reading.

All good bikerphill. Simplest and actual correct way of setting idle mixtures is the lean-drop method. Engine at operating tempurature, pick a carb and back mixture screw out a few turns, then slowly screw back in till you hear a change in engine sound that stays constant. At which point STOP and back mixture screw out 1/8th of a turn. Do mixture adjustment the same procedure with other three carbs and LASTLY sync the four carbs.

As I stated many different ways to get those screws correct. Phil and Brant just gave you two of those other methods. Both of which I understand and agree with. I in no way suggested that you needed to get the Color Tune. I merely stated that it works for me and yes I have read many reviews concerning the use of it or not. I would only say that most of those that leave bad reviews about it don't have any clue as to how to use it properly to begin with. Each to their own though. I bought it years ago and honestly it took me a while to actually use it correctly. One of the important things to make sure of however you decide to adjust the screws is to be sure you have all vacuum leaks resolved. Not saying you haven't just wanted to mention that because you will never get them tuned correctly unless you have no leaks. Same issue with synching.

I used the Morgan tool but had some issues. After adding the dampers, and hooking up the corresponding hoses, I had the bike warmed up. #1 gauge showed no movement even though the bike was idling normal. I gave it some light throttle and it moved some, but the other levels stayed the same. Should the dampers be there? Are they not set right? I followed the directions but don't understand why #1 level. I took out the #1 sparkplug and it looked fine. I tried turning the adjustment screw between #1 and #2 carb and bike sounded better. I then hooked up my other gauges and turned the screws according to that so now they are all the same.

Remember also, the hose ends you put the dampers in slips on tne ends of the carb-tune, NOT the carb. vacuum ports.

On the carbtune it is the opposite. The restrictor ends need to go on the vacuum ports.
