I've looked over the tech tips sections and still have a question. What TYPE of brake pads are best to use with the stock rotors? In the past I've used sintered pads on my other old bikes but found they tend to tear into the rotors pretty hard. I've heard that organic is the best match on other old bikes but they tend to be pretty pricey so what does the community say on this one? Sintered, organic or some other type of pads?

I also found sintered pads work well, but they gall the rotors and squeal horribly.
I am using kevlar and organic- and I don't notice much difference between them.

I used to use EBC, they seemed to make excessive dust, wear out fast, plus the price is higher. Now on a Special there aren't as many choices as the Standard. Remember, brake pads have a shelf life, they harden over time. NOS and some found on ebay look like they have been around forever.Last edited by bikerphil; 07-18-2022, 08:54 PM.2H7 (79) owned since '89
