'81 Special-REAR turn signals are "floppy".

Front ones are solid. I used zip ties to kinda secure 'em a couple years ago. I'm embarrassed to ask because I'm certain if I took off the seat and got on my knees or back I could solve this. I am at an age where getting back up is a lot
harder and am swallowing what pride I have left to ask board members how to fix, rather than Mickey Mouse, the signals.

    TIA

The rubber grommet is probably shot, or if you're lucky, the mounting bolt is loose.

Partshark has the signal damper as it is called for $2.09 each, amazing.

Removing the seat will not give you access to the mounting bolt. The bolt is between the tire and the liner above the tire. There is room to tighten the bolt though. All you need is a 12mm open end wrench and maybe a flashlight. As Phil suggested, check the bolt first. ( I guess its the nut you are tightening if someonr wants to get technical!)

I'll check it out and see if I can see what you're talking about. ( And thanks to Phil for the part link, too!

Well, all the rubber on the thing is great so I'm hoping loose nut.
Thanks for the partshark tip. They show a schematic of the flashers.

I think there is a metal square piece in there that the turn signals notch into. The threaded piece goes into the square piece and then a washer and nut that tightens it.
