  • Too much

I made a boo boo back several months ago. I posted a few months back that I had to have the bike towed to my Moms house when I moved from one storage unit to another. The oil light flicked on when I tried to start it and I added oil-too much oil. Now the bike smokes occasionally-white smoke and plug #1 is fouled until I ride it then it cleans up. I bought a oil syringe and will remove some oil. I hate to ask this but it should on the centerstand (which I don't have) or level. It should be between the 2 lines and not above correct when level?

With no center stand, hold the bike as level as you can from the right side, and check the level after about one minute. That will get you very close. I check mine that way sometimes, as I don't have to back it off the lift I park it on.

I used a fluid transfer syphon pump and removed maybe 1/2 quart of oil. Now is at the top line.

sounds like you have it figured out. when you change the oil might want to have a buddy handy to hold the bike level. another option would be to place a jack stand under the front motor mount.

I don't have anybody that can help me as most of my friends don't live in NJ. The bike I can get it level using a small block of wood that I have. I took the bike out yesterday for a very short distance, and no white smoke.

If it's on the block, it should be just on the upper line. Normal is between the two lines, so you should be good to go!. I've still got the center stand, so it's easy for me.

Yes on the upper line and not past that like it was before I syphoned some oil out. Rode the bike a short distance and looked at plug #1 which was previously fouled. Plug #1 now a light brown color. Going to ride the bike on Sunday when I do laundry at my Moms house. Mom is in the hospital with blood pressure issues so will report back.
