My tach has stopped working and my speedo only goes to 80mph. I'm a person that likes to see accurate RPMs and speed, and on the freeway my current setup provides none of that info. Also I don't understand the concept petcocks with reserve. I'd rather know how much is in the tank, than have it run out of gas before I switch the petcocks. I installed aftermarket petcocks on mine, with no reserve tube height, so I can use all the gas that's in my tank. I just switch them on reserve and forget it.

My fuel light does work but I would rather have more information than just "low fuel".

Here's my plan, I'm decided on the TNT-04 by Koso North America, and using this universal sending unit to send info to the gauge. The guage can be configured to read 510 ohms, which is what the unit sends.

The gear indicator works by using an accelerometer inside the gauge that has to learn how you drive.

The Tach can just be attached to the positive pickup, and the speedo comes with its own sensor.

I'll post my updates here but I plan on using every indicator on this gauge!

Gas gauge and gear indication would improve my riding experience for sure.

I'm always shifting up when I am already in 5th gear.

Reserve always worked for me. One gallon then empty. Just keep it under 80 and you’ll always know how fast you’re going. 😉

I can keep track, it's more like since I like this gauge, I want to be able to use every indicator it has to offer! I believe it can be disabled if it doesn't work as expected

I replaced my OEM instrument cluster years ago for the same reasons, the tach and speedometer died. I purchased a cheap Koso RX-2N replica. It works. Wish I had bought the real thing, i.e. the northamerica version. You will like the conversion. I wish I had set the odometer to the OEM value. I'm not sure how, but if it's possible, I would. Please post your results.

I installed the gauge today. I am left stunned. Everything works as expected! There is a lot of wiring/soldering and calibration involved but every feature of the gauge works and is accurate!

My XS1100SH has a front tire circumference of 2081mm, i installed the speed sensor at the forks less then 1mm away from the reference point as reccomend in the instructions. Then plugged in the circumference and 6 pulses per revolution, as the rotor has 6 slots. Boom accurate speedo.

For the tach I installed the pickup to the negative lead on the right coil. The gauge has a setting for wasted spark 4cyl bikes and that worked perfectly.

I was also able to transfer the original mileage to the odometer..

Calibrating the gear indicator requires a nice quiet spot where you have to accelerate until the gauge thinks that you have to shift to a 6th gear,, and then completes the calibration. It's been spot on since I calibrated it properly.

I'm now just waiting for the fuel sending until to arrive.. it works from 0-510 ohms. Should be plug and play.

Fuel sending unit installed and works perfectly. User defines what is full and what is empty. I set mine to be empty at around .4 gal. It's more accurate than a float!

You have to ride someplace in 5th gear until it thinks you need to shift again? So you need to go what, 125mph on the street to calibrate this thing?

Lmao yes calibrating it was frustrating, it prompts you to shift during calibration, but you have to give it constant acceleration. I started the calibration at a stoplight before a freeway ramp. It's spot on now. You need a secluded area with a high enough speed limit.
