  • Pingel vacuum valve fail

So, years ago, I replaced the octy with a Pingel vacuum valve that worked wonders and eliminated the multiple lines that connected to it. The Pingel had a fuel line on both ends and a hose that attached to the 2nd boot that went to the engine. The Pingel worked wonders and I also changed the stock petcocks to the Pingel fuel valves. Recently the carbs were thoroughly cleaned, and the bike started as it should. But the Pingel vacuum valve is leaking and needs to be rebuilt by them. I got a bit of gas on the garage floor and saw where it leaks. I just ordered another one just in case, it was not cheap but when they do work, they work well. The part came in 2 days after I ordered it. I will hook up my Motion Pro auxiliary fuel tank so I can make sure no issues before I put on the regular gas tank.

Yep, I've had pingel rebuild my fuel shutoff valve too. The reason they fail prematurely is the diaphragm pulses with the engine vacuum pulse. The solution is to put an old pilot jet in the vacuum line as a restrictor. This will eliminate the pulsing increasing it's longevity. Of course pingel won't tell you this, less money for them.

Ok Phil so I'm not going crazy. The valve failed and dumped lots of fuel on my mom's garage floor. I had a restrictor I made in there but took it out for some odd reason. I still have it and will put it in. I took an Allen screw and drilled a hole straight through it. Thanks for the response. When the guy towed it to my mom's house, he wanted to buy it since it was not running-I said no way.

Phil-so for now can I put a vacuum cap on second engine side carb boot and attach an inline on/off valve to both fuel lines to run it?

If the pingel is not functioning correctly, I would remove it and replace with a new or rebuild one. On my bike, I run just the left petcock to a filter, to the pingel valve, then to a T running down to the 2 carb inlets. The pingel sits on top the carb bank between 2 and 3. One petcock provides plenty of fuel to the engine. If you want to run dual petcocks, add another T before the pingel, hopefully there's room.

Yes, you can substitute an inline shutoff valve in place of the pingel and cap the vacuum port on the #2 carb boot.

Phil-I have the new Pingel vacuum valve and also since I can't find the piece I made to put in the line, I used a jet from when I installed a Dynojet kit in my ZRX.

So, Pingle doesn't sell a kit? You have to send in for a factory rebuild? That's bogus.
