Any idea where the green wire on the solenoid attaches to. The bike starts right up without it attached to anything. Thanks

1980 xs1100sg green wire off the solenoid

It should run from the lower (starter) terminal on the solenoid, changing colors in the harness to red/yel, off to the TCI. It's job is to bypass the ballast resistor allowing full voltage to the coils (hotter spark) when cranking for easier starting. Now if someone has upgraded the factory 1.5 ohm coils to 3 ohm type and the ballast resistor was eliminated, no need for this wire anymore.Last edited by bikerphil; 11-12-2021, 04:43 PM.2H7 (79) owned since '89
