  • Fairing for XS 11 question

I used to own an XS 1100 E --1978 Maroon, and I had a full-fairing, it was not a WINDJAMMER---the exact fairing happens to be in a picture on this website---the bike is owned by Jack Roberts----does anybody know who mfg. the fairing ???

    fairing

That fairing was made by Pacifico they bought out Vetter in late 77 or early 78. Some XS11's had that one and some had the one marked Yamaha by Vetter. They looked totally different. It took standard windjammer parts. The funny thing is I talked to Craige Vetter and he had never seen the one I have, even though it had his name on it.[IMG][/IMG]
I like the one pictured above much better, just think it has better lines.
There's always a way, figure it out.

Yeah, and it takes a square head light.

        Fairing question....

That fairing was made by Vetter. Parts are still available. Go to craigvetter.com.....

planedick is correct, that is a Vetter fairing that his company made for Yamaha, through and including 1981! Vetter sold his company to his banker in I believe 1979...(you all' correct me if that's not right, but close enough for this) then banker 'belly-up'ed' in 82, so if what you had looked like the photo, it is a Vetter IV fairing.

The '78 had the Pacifico fairing. I know because I had one of the first xs1100's in California with the official Yamaha Dress Kit. You can still buy the windshields, and most of the other parts came from US aftermarket light companies. I can check once I get back home ( Tuesday) and give you the name of the company.
The lowers will be VERY hard to find, but nice if you ride in the winter. I plan on replacing the Vetter fairing on my '79 with the Pacifico I've got. I just need to do some repair work on the plastic, and then paint.

"Pacifico fairing.... You can still buy the windshields..."

¿where? Can you buy different "heights" - *most* people prefer the short ones, I like the TALL ones...

OK; can someone put this in the Tech Tips?
Here is a site for replacement fairing shields. They do have tall and regular, as well as the vents.
