  • '80 SG; X-2 needle jets, main nozzles, emulsion tubes... whatever they are called.

I am in search of some X-2 needle jets for my 1980 XS1100SG Special. The Yamaha part number is 3H5-14941-02-00 and they came off a Mikuni BS-34 Mk III carb. I have tired everywhere I could think of; K&L, Sudco, motorcyclecarbs.com, bike shops in my area and no luck. If anybody has some lying around, I am willing to pay more than they are worth for them. Or if anyone knows where these can be found(my determination is that they are not manufactured anymore), or if anyone can recommend a machine shop that would custom make them for me. I am in search of 4 of them. This is the only obstacle in the way of a great running bike. I would prefer not to have to purchase a bank of carbs for them, but if there were one out in decent shape I would consider it.
    Thanks.
My head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about.

I have a large ziplock bag of misc xs1100 carb parts both 78/79 type and 80/81. I might have what you need. YOU do not have to pay more than they are worth. Problem I do not know what you need exactly. Can you send to my e-mail andreashweiss@yahoo.com part # ,picture if possible,or micro , I have xs1100 manuels but for 78-79 years. Also describe part as best as possible color, material made of,lenght, etc. I am at work until 7pm pacific. Will look tonight and get back to you on e-mail. andreas

What he is looking for is item 55 in this illustration:

Somewhere on this site there are some really good pics of the different jets but I can't find them right now.

        Thanks for the link.
A picture of the part is here:

Go down the page a bit to the first picture. It is part d. Of the three needle jets shown it is the one on the left.

              Sorry Dew,

But they are not the same thing:
              4H7-14921-32-00 650 nozzles

              3H5-14941-02-00 81H nozzle
              3H5-14941-02-00 80SG nozzle

              2H7-14941-02-00 79F nozzle x-2

What's surprising is that the 79 shows it being an X-2 needle, and Bob says his 80SG uses the X-2, but the yamaha numbers are not the same!? Bob, you'll want to reference the part number you described, but not necessarily the X-2 needle/nozzle.

Thanks TopCatGr58, I never was completely sure about the X-2 designation. Some charts I've looked at had it listed with my bike and I found a faint etching of 'X-2' on the side of the carb body. I just thought the more information the better.

Also why are there so many different names for this one part? It is very annoying. Oh well.

Sorry, bobdole completely forgot why he chose that screen name. bobdole used to love it when Bob Dole talked in the 3rd person, and that is why he chose bobdole. So from know on bobdole will do just that. Man it's really hard for bobdole to type with this pencil clenched in his fist.

                      Hey BobDole,

Just a hint to make it easier to type responses without having to hit 9 keystrokes(includes Capital Shifts), just type it once, then highlight it, and CNTRL-C "copy" it, then just hit CNTRL-V whenever you want to type it to automatically paste it, only 2 keystrokes! And those two keys are on your left hand!!!
