Nezzer - just like you I fried out two stock muffler sets on my standard, right at the detents for the rear axle. Didn't let it warm up enough and only drove it a short distance to work daily. This was also an issue with the Yamaha/Vetter faring c/w lowers as the exhaust was trapped in the slipstream - needed one less beer at the end of the day (another reason why I may have lost a few brain cells). I can still smell a little exhaust with the shortie 4 into 1. One year I rode well into December - behind fairing/lowers, hotter plugs and an AGM battery. Then it finally snowed and time to pack it in. Your +40F is my +4C - I've ridden in -15C temps, not too far, mind you, as hard rubber doesn't grip frozen roads very well. So, moral of my rant - a proper warm-up, I think, is a good idea with a ride long enough to bring everything up to temperature. Helps reduce damaging condensation and grey paint in the dips (seen it on tear-down)

Oldyam, my ZRX1200 is gonna be 20 come the New Year, your ZRX1100 is a year or two senior to that! Good diet of Mobil 1 10w40 4T or Mobil 1 20w50 V-Twin keeps it young and starting easy even when garage temps are below freezing in the morning on days it’s warming up to the 40’s for a ride. Hope you get some good opportunities to get in a ride.

BTW, ZRX carbs have the same spacing as the XS11... http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35462

Guy at my job rode his Kawasaki Ninja to work last week I worked when it was like 20 degrees out. He said he has ridden in the single digits as long as there is no salt on the roads and as long as it wont snow. He has 4 Ninjas I believe and the guy is probably my age or older, and his bikes look showroom.
