      Please Santa....

Don't let SWMBO see the Visa bill too soon. You guys are DANGEROUS to my finances - too many neat ways to spend money. SS brake lines - Need, fork brace - Need, etc., etc. I'll fall back on the "At least it's not a red Corvette / midlife crisis" excuse. I'll let you know how that goes - wish me luck - I'll need it...

It's built like the Seca650 Turbo. HORRIBLE turbo lag! I put about 20K on mine before it was taken out by a cage. It needs shorter pipes between the head and the turbo, but other than that it look nice!(and FUN!!!)

Yes the Seca was/is sluggish but the XJ 1100 Turbo was designed as follows:

"This YAMAHA’s new turbo system is based on the energy-saving engine system YICS (Yamaha Induction Control System) developed before YAMAHA, adding a motorcycle-specific turbocharger, and changing the fuel supply system to electronic fuel injection. ), so that the engine can achieve the characteristics of low fuel consumption and high output horsepower.

In order to be able to make full use of the characteristics of this turbocharger, various Yamaha technologies are used. The reed valve is used to match the output characteristics of the engine to control the amount of gas entering, so as to ensure that the engine can maintain a sharp throttle response under conditions such as rapid acceleration and deceleration. It is also equipped with electronic fuel injection that highlights YAMAHA electronic technology ( electronic fuel injection) system.
Simply put, YAMAHA’s new turbo system is a system that includes the following four functions:
          1. Y.I.C.S.
          2. Reed valve
          3. Turbocharger
          4. Electronic fuel injection"
Wonder if the prototype is hiding in someone's barn.

Here's one for sale in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

            I am tempted.

            Ad says....

I picked up this yamaha 1978 xs1100 turbocharged bike a few years ago to get it running. But don't have the time. Its a pretty rare setup being that it has a rayjay turbo on it. I need room in my shop and don't think ill have time for this bike for now. Want it gone. $600, make me an offer

$600 Canadian is about $470 US.

Ronnie_D I'd say you have the channel 11 location advantage on that sweet deal. IIRR Calgary to Edmonton is only like 2.5 - 3 hrs.

                  I was second in line.
                  It is sold.
It would have made a cool XS11.

                  The hunt goes on....
