  • Beach Bars on a Special?

I had bikini beach bars on my 2002 Roadstar and loved them. My '80 XS11 special came to me with drag bars, which is definitely not my riding style. I have the OEM bars but, like the OEM Roadstar bars, they give you a horrible wrist angle and lousy leverage. I like wider bars, just high enough to comfortably clear the tank, with lots of pull-back. Sitting on my bike, I decided that 32" wide with 12" of pullback would be just about perfect. Does anybody else have bars in that ballpark on your XS? What did you use? My best option seems to be cutting down the ends of some Emgo beach bars to get me where I want to be.

Ran a set of Euro bars on my last XS11. Made a world of difference in the illusion of controlling one of these beasts around a curve.

Thanks Barbarosa. These EMGO Euro Handlebars: Width 29.5", Rise 2", Center width 4.5", Pullback 5.5? Too forward for me, but I am curious about something: Those Euro bars have a 4.5" center width. Outside end to end, the risers on my '80 XS1100GS is 4.75" Did that cause a fitment problem for you? I am looking at some bars that are just about right, but they also have a 4.5" center width.

The only snag I can recall was clutch cable routing and it wasn't that drastic. I appreciate the engineering that went into designing an XS11 but the stock handlebars are better suited for a breaking plow.
