I was going to suggest that on my second post, but I looked up the part number and found it was the same for both sides.

At least you have it figured out now.

Upon further inspection, what happened was the pads were made to order and someone screwed up the angle. But if I used one from each set, they fit. In the pic below I had to use two of a kind, so like both the ones with wear marks on one side, and then the smooth ones on the other.

My wipers didnt seal after the caliper rebuild so it's back to the drawing board. Now removing them will be challenging as I cant just pump them out due to the seal leakage.

On the Specials, To start the left side rotor should be centered In the fork cutout just by the stack up position on the axle, (I need a 0.3mm shim to make center). Right side rotor is centered with the pinch bolt adjustment, leave loose for now. You can mount the calipers with the pads removed and the piston set fully retracted with the pad holding pin out to max with the holding spring still on the end. Don’t tighten the caliper pivot bolt completely. I had a pad set that one side was designated by pad cuts and the other solid, not one each. See top view pic in the linked post for set ID cut angle. The pads must sit in the shim on the fork and should move slightly so any stamping burs or paint blobs can be removed with a lite filing along the tab and flat seating side. Insert the pads from the bottom and set the holding pin, the pin should slide in easily and each pad not jammed. Now apply brake pressure and clamp the lever with pressure held, verify the right fork position is centered and tighten the pinch bolt and both caliper pivot bolts. Release the held brake pressure and you should be able to feel some play in each pad at the pin and each caliper when twisted. If no free movement find where it’s binding and resolve.

No, for this bike, specials, all three pad sets are unique. Front left and right have the pad material cut at opposite tapers.

Yes, there is a left front set and a right front set of pads for the Special, mix the sides up and they won't fit.
