  • vacuum and fuel line question for pod filters

I am going through this 79 xs11 standard, and deleting the airbox. I got it with a box full of parts, and the airbox was already removed. Could someone post a pic of the vacuum lines and fuel lines I need to cap off and re-route? Thanks
    J

I did search, but didn't see the info I was looking for.

    Grimace,

Don't cap off anything. The upper carb lines are for air venting, if you cap them the carbs will starve for fuel. The lower carb lines are for fuel from the petcocks.

Some owners put small (aquarium?) filters on the vent hoses, just to keep dirt out.

      Hey Grimace,

One vacuum line goes from the #2 "CARB" body metal port to the vacuum advance in the left side cover. The #2 intake manifold port is the vacuum line for the petcocks. The upper two "T'd" connections between the carbs are the fuel bowl vents, and as Randy says, DO NOT CAP OFF, you can "Y" them together to a common VENT, with either a fuel filter or such on the end, but it needs to breath. The lower ports are the fuel inlets, that come from the petcock fuel outlets! The large hose from the crankcase vent can also be mounted with a filter to keep critters out. There is a small vent hose coming off of the top of the tranny, it's just hung up under the tank out in the open.

Thanks guys, I am trying to get this poor basketcase yammer together. It just needs love. I bought one of those little chrome breather filters from autozone that looks like the pod filters. It worked on my lightning, so I guess it will work here. I need to post a pic or two of the work in progress.
