  • 80SG Rear Rotor

Just starting putting on rear wheel after tire change and noticed a crack from the outermost portion of one of the the slots to the outside of the rotor. The crack is not smooth. My question is once the raised portion of the crack "gouges" out the pad would there be any safety issue? Also will a rotor from a 78 or 79 standard fit? I notice they are not slotted. There are some available on ebay but not for a 80SG. Thanks in advance for any input.

    Hey Bruce,

Long time, no see! Sorry to hear about your cracked rotor, not good. You don't want to let the raised area gouge the pads. You could try a Dremmel grinding stone to try to de-burr the raised area for a VERY TEMPORARY fix.

The rotors are all interchangeable, just like you said, no slots. You can drill your own slots into one if you desire. It's mostly to aid in wet weather grip, along with perhaps a little more cooling affect, and reducing overall weight!

The XJ rotors are a direct bolt on. They are the same as the slotted XS rotors.

You guys are great! Thanks for the input and offers. S.R. I am definitly interested, I'll PM you. I went ahead and put the wheel on. It "seems" OK but I will definitly feel better going to the Suches rally next week with a good rotor.

T.C., I saw where you can't make the Suches rally, sorry to hear it, hope to see you sometime next year.
