  • New Mirrors

    Hey Gang,
I am looking to replace my mirros on my 1980 XS1100G. The original ones hit my fairing and cannot be adjusted for a good view. They are the original round mirrors and I would like to go with a rectangular one. Anyone have any good suggestions? Thanks, DJ

I don't know if they would be what you're looking for, but I love my universal bar end mirrors from cycle-recycle http://www.crc2onlinecatalog.com/Index_Main_Frame.htm
The adjust wider on the fly for a wider view. I also have a brand new set of virgo style that I am looking to get rid of if your interested.

      Hey DJRider,

Lots of places, Partsnmore, MikesXS, BikeBandit, JCW, just need to do some shopping! Make sure you get Yamaha style, since they have backwards threads on one side, can't remember if it's right or left, but they are unique vs. the ones for other brand bikes!

i bought a set of rectangular ones off ebay from mr or mrs superdeals (on ebay). They were pretty cheap (good) but were kinda chinsy (bad) but hey, you get what you pay for. they work and are functional. They do hit my windshield in REALLY tight manuevering situations....

You can look for other yami models too. I have rectangular ones on my standard off of an xs400 that I got off of ebay pretty cheap. Not perfect though.

JC Whitney has a good selection and they are pretty reasonable. And you know the merchandise will be in good shape, unlike Ebay...

.. i very much like my bar-end mirrors also, not only do they make the bike look good, you can see behind you way better. and you can move them out of the way and put them back real easy
.. the weight of the mirrors on the end of the bars also smooths out some vibrations at the grips, like the bar end weights
.. i have a bar-end mirror on the left side and a bar-end weight on the right on my red bike

                ... and turn signals?

I've seen new cars and trucks with turn signals on the mirrors.
I'd like to increase my conspicuity. I think that something like that might help.
Has anyone seen something like that which might be added to my XJ11 or our XS11s?
                Thanks,

                  Hey Rick,

I've seen them, mostly for the newer cruisers, but they are very pricey, like over $100 for a set!!! Cheaper to get some stick on LED lights and put them on the mirror!!

I agree. All of the HD and custom "chopper" mags have them. I bet that OCC even has their own style of mirrors with turn sigs for about 400 dollars!

                        Hey Rick,

Have you seen the LED conversion tips. The site I had listed for obtaining the LED's is NO MORE. But I found another great site, same place to get the URL=http://www.superbrightleds.com/truck_lights.htm]Superbright LEDs[/URL] .

I think this link takes you to the TRUCK section, but you can back track and find other types, like marking lights, either round or rectangular, and you could GLUE them onto the ends of the mirrors, and wire them in with the turn signals, they don't draw hardly any power!! Just a thought!?
